The two measurements every dartboard setup is built on are the hanging height and the throwing distance. Get these right and your board plays exactly like the ones the pros throw at.
The centre of the bullseye sits 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in) above the floor, and the oche — the throwing line — is 2.37 m (7 ft 9¼ in) horizontally from the face of the board for steel-tip darts. Soft-tip (electronic) boards throw from 2.44 m (8 ft) instead.
How to set it up, step by step
Hang the board at 1.73 m
Measure 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in) from the floor to the centre of the bullseye.
Measure the oche at 2.37 m
Set the throwing line 2.37 m (7 ft 9¼ in) horizontally from the board face for steel-tip (2.44 m for soft-tip).
